The procedure for reviewing articles sent to the editors of the publication under review
“Bulletin of Donetsk National University. Series A: Natural Sciences"

  1. Editorial board of the journal “Bulletin of Donetsk National University. Series A: Natural Sciences” accepts for consideration for publication articles and reviews on the subject of the journal.
  2. The authors of articles bear personal responsibility for the presence of elements of plagiarism in the texts of articles, for the completeness and reliability of the stated facts and provisions, for the fact of their publication. It is allowed to publish no more than two articles from one author in one issue. No royalties are paid to authors and no fees are charged for publishing articles.
  3. The authors submit the manuscript of the article in one copy (in Russian or English), printed on one side of a sheet of A4 paper (the copy is signed by the authors). The pages of the manuscript must be numbered sequentially. The volume of the manuscript, as a rule, is from 5 to 15 pages (for a review article - up to 25), including figures, tables, references, information about the authors. Together with the manuscript, an electronic version with the full text of the article in *.doc or *.docx format is sent to the email address vestnikdonnu_a@mail.ru. Manuscripts are not returned to authors. If it is not possible to submit a manuscript to the editorial board, the full text of the article in pdf format will be sent to the editor’s email.
  4. Articles submitted to the editor must be prepared in accordance with the Rules for Authors. Articles that do not comply with the Rules for Authors or the scope of the journal will not be accepted for consideration.
  5. All articles accepted for consideration are subject to peer review and, in the case of a positive review, to scientific and technical editing. Editorial proofs of articles are not sent to authors.
  6. For articles accepted by the editorial board, the editorial board appoints reviewers from the editorial board of the journal. Reviewers are appointed members of the editorial board who are recognized experts in the relevant field of science and have published on the subject of the article being reviewed over the past five years. The author (co-author) of the article under review cannot be appointed as a reviewer.
  7. When evaluating an article, the reviewer takes into account the following: compliance of the article with the topic and heading of the journal; relevance of the presented materials; compliance of the title, abstract, goals and objectives with the content of the article; correct use of the results of other authors and correctness of references; quality of presentation and design; completeness, novelty and scientific significance of the research; validity of the results.
  8. The conclusion of the review should include one of the following recommendations:
    - the article is assessed positively in its presented form and is recommended for publication; The article is recommended for publication after minor revision by the author; the article requires significant revision with subsequent review; The article does not correspond to the topic of the journal and is not of interest.
  9. The reviewer provides a review to the editorial board no later than 1 month from the date of receipt of the article.
  10. The decision on publication, publication after revision/revision, or rejection of the article is made by the editorial board of the journal.
  11. If an article is recommended for publication after minor revision by the author, the editors send comments to the authors of the article (without specifying the reviewer). An article sent to the authors for revision must be returned in a corrected form as soon as possible. For a revised article, you must provide a letter from the authors containing responses to all comments and explaining all changes made in the article. An article delayed by the authors for more than three months or requiring significant revision is considered as newly received.
  12. If an article is rejected, the editors send the authors a review (without specifying the reviewer) or excerpts from it, or a reasoned letter from the editor. The editors do not enter into discussion with the authors of rejected articles, except in cases of obvious misunderstanding.
  13. Reviews are stored in the editorial office of the journal for five years. At the request of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, the editors of the journal provide copies of reviews of articles.
  14. Manuscripts will not be returned to authors.
